VALERIE LACIVITA
Business Owner!
In May 2018 I made one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made. I decided to leave a job I had been in for 18+ years. It turned out to also be one of the best decisions in my life because shortly after leaving, while contemplating my next steps I decided to start my own business!
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Local Bakery
Other than babysitting jobs and a paper route when I was younger I started my working career in a local bakery. I spent a little time in the actual bakery making and decorating product and then went on to work at the store. I learned customer service skills including confidence, listening skills, professionalism, multi-tasking, time-management skills, and problem solving skills.
TEACHING
Continuing Education
I took a few computer courses through continuing education and discovered that I enjoyed learning the ins and outs of new programs and was very good at is as well. So good in fact that they offered me a job teaching some nighttime adult computer courses. During this time I also discovered that I have been blessed with patience.
RECEPTIONIST
Large Manufacturing
After a few short-term receptionist jobs at various local businesses I landed a job at a large manufacturing company in town. I had an excellent mentor who helped me improve and perfect my skills as an administrator as well as what it was like to work in a large worldwide company. I learned attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, communication skills, telephone skills, teamwork and more.
ADMINISTRATION
Real Estate Industry
I spend the first part of my 18 years here as a receptionist. I easily learned new industry specific programs, terms and protocol. I was able to utilize what I learned in my past work experiences to exhibit confidence in the role and quickly earned the trust of my co-workers.
MARKETING &
CREATIVE DESIGN
Real Estate Industry
After some time as a receptionist I moved into the Marketing Department. I was able to continue learning new programs including those specific to marketing and creative design. I learned leadership skills, critical thinking, analytical skills, creativity, Adobe Creative Suite, marketing, project management, branding, and much more. I soon found myself running the department for a company with over 100 employees.
